A dining chair is more than a seat. It is the piece of furniture where you sit daily during meals, working from home or an evening at the table with family. At Tulmans Furniture, every dining chair is selected on three criteria: seating comfort for extended use, upholstery durability and a design that suits both modern and more traditional interiors.

The collection includes various models. Each model is available in multiple colours. The upholstery comes in two materials: fabric and PU leather. For a number of models you can choose between a fixed base (Fix) and a swivel base (Swivel).

Fix or Swivel: which base suits you?

The base determines how you use the chair at the table. A Fix chair slides in and out as usual. A Swivel chair rotates toward the table and back. The mechanism automatically returns to the starting position when you stand up.

Swivel chairs are especially popular with large dining tables, open kitchens and people who regularly stand up during meals. Because you do not need to slide, the floor stays undamaged. Models available in both versions: Ace, Curve, Vince, Tulip, Livio, Wave, Slide, Slidebull, Bento, Kinto, Xylo and Otis.

Fabric or PU leather: which upholstery?

The upholstery determines the appearance and maintenance of your dining chair. Both materials are durable for daily use. The difference lies in appearance and feel.

Fabric feels warm and soft. The material breathes, so you get less warm during extended sitting. Fabric upholstery is available in dozens of colours, from neutral shades such as anthracite and grey to warmer colours such as cognac, ochre and petrol. Fabric gives a homely, inviting atmosphere.

PU leather has a smooth, sleek surface. Stains from sauces, drinks or fingerprints wipe away with a damp cloth. PU leather is a good choice for families with young children or when the dining chairs see intensive use. The material is available in colours such as black, cognac, anthracite and taupe.

Popular models from the collection

Below is a selection of frequently chosen models. Each model has its own seating profile, suited to different body types and preferences.

Ace: available as Wire and Swivel . Slender line with a comfortable seat shell. The Wire version has a striking lightweight metal frame.

Curve: available as Fix and Swivel . Organic round shapes that support the back well. One of the most comfortable models in the collection.

Flow: a versatile model with a flowing line. Compact enough for smaller dining tables, comfortable enough for long evenings.

Tulip: available as Fix . Streamlined design that suits both a sleek ceramic table and a warm wooden dining table.

Bento: available as Swivel . Wide seat with extra cushioning. Suited for those who want spacious and soft seating.

Seat height and pairing with your dining table

All dining chairs in the collection have a seat height of 45 to 47 cm. This is the standard height that matches a 75 cm dining table, as is customary in the Netherlands and Belgium. At Tulmans Furniture, dining tables are delivered at 75 cm height by default, but you can specify a different height in the 3D configurator.

Choose the style of chair based on your table and interior. Some guidelines:

• A ceramic dining table with clean lines: choose a slender chair such as the Tulip, Ace or Flow in a neutral colour.
• An oak dining table with warm character: choose a chair in an earth tone such as cognac, ochre or dark green. The Curve, Wave or Danillo pair well here.
• A round or oval table: chairs without armrests work best, as you can place them closer to the table.

Maintaining dining chairs

Both upholstery materials are designed for daily use and require little maintenance.

Fabric: vacuum regularly with the upholstery brush. Blot stains immediately with a damp cloth. Do not use aggressive cleaning products. For stubborn stains you can use a textile cleaner.

PU leather: wipe with a damp cloth and optionally a drop of pH-neutral cleaner. Do not use scouring pads. PU leather is less susceptible to stains than fabric and dries quickly.

The metal frame (powder-coated or chrome-plated) can be wiped with a soft cloth. For Fix chairs, regularly check the felt pads under the legs to prevent floor scratches.

Delivery throughout the Netherlands, Belgium and NRW

Dining chairs are delivered throughout the Netherlands, Belgium and North Rhine-Westphalia (Germany). You can have the chairs delivered together with a custom dining table or order them separately. Ergonomics: what to look for

You use a dining chair daily, often for more than an hour per meal. Good seating comfort starts with proper lower back support and a seat height that matches your table. All chairs in the collection are selected for ergonomics, but each model has its own seating profile.

Seat depth: the distance from the front of the seat to the backrest. A seat that is too deep creates pressure behind the knees. A seat that is too shallow provides insufficient support for the upper legs. In the showroom you can check whether your back touches the backrest while your feet rest flat on the floor.

Backrest: a taller backrest provides more support for the upper back and shoulders. Models such as the Velia, Danillo and Elly have a high back. More compact models such as the Gigi and Ginny have a lower back, giving a lighter appearance.

Armrests: a chair with armrests provides extra support when standing up and offers a comfortable resting position for the arms. With armrest chairs, check the height: the armrest must fit under the table top so you can fully push the chair in.

How many dining chairs for your table?

The number of chairs depends on the table dimensions. As a rule of thumb, allow 60 cm per chair without armrests. A 200 cm table fits 6 chairs (3 per long side). A 240 cm table fits 6 to 8 chairs. A round table of 120 cm fits 4 to 5 chairs around it.

Do you have an oval or Danish oval table? The rounded ends provide extra seating space. Configure your custom dining table and calculate the number of chairs based on the exact dimensions.

Seating comfort is subjective. What one person finds comfortable, another may find too hard or too soft. Your back shape, height and weight determine which chair suits you best. That is why we recommend always trying dining chairs before you order.

In our showroom in Maasbree, Netherlands, all models are displayed at dining tables. You can sit down, assess the backrest, view fabric colours in daylight and directly compare with other models. Feel free to bring a cushion cover or piece of curtain fabric to assess the colour combination.
